"Hoop"

Dan Kimball Hooper

November 16, 1946 - October 4, 2008

Dan Kimball Hooper "Hoop" Born November 16, 1946 and crossed the finish line October 4, 2008. The last marathon was a three 1/2 year run with metastatic melanoma. Hoop will be missed by all the trout in the Western US and Scotland, by family, friends, and his fellow mates of the Larchmont Track Club. He created a wonderful life with his wife of 42 years, Bonnie; son, Sam & Heather Hooper; daughter, Kim & Jon Paulding, and brother, David & Sissy Hooper. PAPA will be missed by his 10 exceptional grandchildren: Chase, Alex, Kelsey, Ellie, Anna, Will, Nate, Charlie, Luke and Thomas. His life-long Sunday Dinner tradition will carry on! Hoop was a friend to all. He enjoyed great food and drink. He loved to garden and enjoyed his many travels that took him all over the world, but his heart was always in the Utah desert and mountains. Dan was an avid runner and as his knees aged, a walker. He loved starting the morning with the crosswords with his wife and ending the evening by cooking a delightful meal with her as well. Please send flowers to someone you love in Dan's honor and contribute to a charity of your choice. He will be spending the next 18-24 months working with medical students at the U, and then his ashes will be taken to all his favorite spots.
